First dates are nerve-wracking enough without adding unnecessary complications. One man learned this lesson the hard way last week when a security camera inside a Brooklyn coffee shop captured what has become one of the funniest fail videos of the month.
The clip, shared by the coffee shop on their social media (with both parties’ permission), shows a well-dressed man arriving at the counter and confidently ordering what he described as a “double ristretto, half-caf, oat milk, extra hot, no foam, with a light dusting of ceremonial-grade matcha.”
His date watches from the table. The barista blinks.
What Happens Next
The barista — with admirable composure — explains that they don’t have oat milk today. Nor do they carry ceremonial-grade matcha. Their espresso machine is also, unfortunately, out of order.
They have, she explains, drip coffee and tea.
The man’s entire body language transforms in real time. His shoulders drop. He turns very slowly to look at his date. She is, visibly, trying not to laugh.
He orders two drip coffees.
The Date, For The Record
According to a follow-up post from the coffee shop, the couple actually had a great date and exchanged numbers. The man reportedly now introduces the video at parties as “the beginning of our love story.”
The Internet’s Verdict
“The shoulder drop is sending me,” reads the top comment with 340,000 likes. “This man’s entire personality evacuated his body in 4 seconds.”
